Story #1: Unconditional Love

When I walked behind him, I saw his tall figure was trembling. He walked with minimum ability of balance. He bumped things when he walked. His head hit doorways more than one time. His feet kicked the stair steps even more and it made him nearly fell. One time, I caught him from behind after he missed a step on the stairs.

Ah, maybe it is because he very tall, I thought. Body size affects people’s body balance, right? I think so, but I don’t know for sure.

I also told my friend that he was clumsy just to make sure that she would watch after him as well.

Then I put my eyes more on him. I let my friend guide us in the front while I stayed in behind when we visited some places just to remind him to watch his head from hitting something.

My eyes later inspected something on both of his ears. I thought it was the tip of his glasses but it was not. It was hearing aids. In my opinion, he was too young to use that tool.

At the end of the tour, my friend said that he had problem with his nerves.
His wife told my friend that in the night, he could barely see. The problem was not only affecting his eyes but also various parts of his body.

It explained the hearing aids he used and the reason he was so clumsy, clumsier than the clumsiest friend I knew.

But his condition was not the thing that attracted me. It was his wife sincere love that I saw.

When we walked on the square, the sun had set. There were no lights except from the light of the vehicles around. Like in the beginning, I walked behind them. Then, I saw something beautiful. She held his hand tightly. She informed him, with her soft yet caring voice, if there was something in front him. ‘Stairs,’ she said. Then he moved his feet slowly one by one, following his wife’s voice. It was really beautiful to see how she completed him.

There was a game that we usually played in the square. It was said that if we could finish it, our wish would come true. I asked him to try it then he said no. “My wish has come true”, he said. His eyes were locked on his wife.

That was the sweetest thing to say from a lover.

Later, I found out that she was a nurse. My mind created a romantic love story at once. He was her patient. She frequently met him in the hospital. After a while, they built this strong affection towards each other and decided to knot their feeling in a wedding.

The smile that they shared while talking to each other then reminded me that love was unconditional. No matter how your couple condition was, you had to keep them strong, complete them…
